What is Trelegy Ellipta?

Trelegy Ellipta is a medication approved to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. COPD characterizes a group of lung conditions including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Chronic bronchitis: Swelling and inflammation of the bronchial tubes can lead to difficulty breathing. Phlegm and heavy mucus can clog the airways and lead to bronchitis over time. It can become persistent and lead to severe breathing problems.

Emphysema: People with emphysema have damaged air sacs in the lungs. The air sacs become stretched, causing a cough and difficulty breathing. Smoking is typically the number one cause of emphysema.

Asthma: When you encounter a trigger or allergen, the airways in the lungs may constrict. During an asthma attack, the airways swell and tighten. This makes it difficult for air to move in and out of the lungs.

All of these lung conditions are chronic and require maintenance medications like Trelegy Ellipta. Trelegy Ellipta is not an emergency inhaler and cannot prevent asthma attacks. This inhaler is a combination medication that contains fluticasone, umeclidinium, and vilanterol. Together, all of these medications work to open the airways and lessen the risk of asthma attacks. If you want to learn more about how to use an inhaler, you can talk to your doctor or visit our Health and Wellness Journal.

There is currently no generic version of Trelegy Ellipta. Generic versions are typically less expensive than the brand name Trelegy Ellipta. Because of this, many people with asthma or COPD may struggle to afford Trelegy Ellipta, but there are ways to save money on your inhaler medication.

You can save money by ordering Trelegy Ellipta through Canadian Med Center. At our certified online pharmacy, we offer Trelegy Ellipta at discount prices, so you will pay less than you would at your local pharmacy. You can find current prices for Trelegy Ellipta at the drug listing at the top of the page.

Trelegy Ellipta Dosage

Trelegy Ellipta is three breathing medications in one. Typically, you will be prescribed a once-daily dose of Trelegy Ellipta. This medication works best when taken at the same time every day. Do not take more than one dose of Trelegy Ellipta per day.

For the maintenance of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, your Trelegy Ellipta will contain 100 mcg of fluticasone, 62.5 mcg of umeclidinium, and 25 mcg of vilanterol. All of these medications are combined in the inhaler to deliver one puff of beneficial mediation. The dosage is typically the same for the maintenance of asthma. Your dosage may be increased if your breathing condition is more severe. Do not take more than one dose of Trelegy Ellipta per day unless advised by your doctor.

Trelegy Ellipta Side Effects

If you live with asthma or COPD, you probably want to avoid feeling short of breath whenever possible. If you take Trelegy Ellipta properly, you are less likely to experience side effects. FAQs

Is Trelegy Ellipta a rescue inhaler?

Trelegy Ellipta is not a rescue inhaler and cannot stop an asthma attack that is already occurring. Trelegy Ellipta is a maintenance medication that prevents the likelihood of asthma attacks when taken regularly. If you receive a prescription of Trelegy Ellipta, you will also likely get a prescription for a beta-agonist. Beta-agonists will provide quick relief of asthma and COPD symptoms.

How do I use Trelegy Ellipta?

When you begin an inhaler medication, your doctor will let you know how to properly use Trelegy Ellipta. Generally, you will start by opening the inhaler and breathing out. Put your mouth over the mouthpiece and inhale the medicine. After inhaling, remove the inhaler from your mouth and hold your breath for 3 to 4 seconds. Breathe out slowly, close the inhaler, and rinse your mouth.

What are the ingredients of Trelegy Ellipta?

Trelegy Ellipta contains three medications that work together to improve breathing problems: fluticasone, umeclidinium, and vilanterol. Fluticasone is an inhaled corticosteroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect on the lungs. Umeclidinium is an anticholinergic that blocks the action of acetylcholine, which inhibits voluntary muscle movements. Vilanterol is a bronchodilator that helps open the airways for easier breathing.

How much does Trelegy Ellipta cost?

If you pay out of pocket for Trelegy Ellipta in the United States, you can expect to pay over $800 for one 30-day dose. The price is much cheaper through Canadian Med Center and you can save up to 90% on your prescription.

What is Trelegy Ellipta used for?

Trelegy Ellipta is used as a maintenance treatment for COPD and asthma. Within the umbrella of COPD, Trelegy Ellipta can treat emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

I've been a Canadian Med Center customer for about 6 years now. In all that time there was never once that I considered taking my business elsewhere. They do a great job and the people they contract with are also super.
