Lidex ointment treats the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

It would help if you used Lidex ointment only as directed by your doctor. It is for use on the skin only. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Please do not use it on skin areas that have cuts, scrapes, or burns. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away with water.
Please do not use it for more than two weeks unless your doctor tells you otherwise. To use Lidex ointment:

• Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine.

• You are allergic to Lidex, any part of Lidex or other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and signs you may have.
• You must check to ensure that taking Lidex with all your drugs and health problems is safe. Tell your doctor and pharmacist about your drugs and health problems. Check with your doctor before starting, stopping, or changing the dose of any drug.
• Do not put on cuts, scrapes, or damaged skin.
• Use care when putting on a large part of the skin or where there are open wounds. Talk with the doctor.
• Use with care in children. Do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants if the treated part is in the diaper area. It may cause more drugs to get into the body. Talk with the doctor.
• This medicine may affect growth in children and teens in some cases. They may need regular growth checks. Talk with the doctor.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan on getting pregnant, or are breastfeeding. 

The most common side effects of Lidex ointment include the following:

• burning, stinging, itching, or dryness of treated skin,
• redness or crusting around your hair follicles,
• stretch marks,
• spider veins,
• acne,
• lightened color of treated skin,
• headache,
• stuffy nose, and
• sore throat

What should you do if you forget a dose of Lidex ointment?

Apply the missed dose of Lidex ointment as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

If you think there has been an overdose, get medical care immediately. Be ready to tell or show what was taken, how much, and when it happened.
