Aczone Gel is used to treat acne. It helps decrease the number and severity of acne and helps pimples that develop to heal more quickly.
Use Aczone gel exactly as directed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not use Aczone gel in larger or smaller amounts or longer than recommended. Aczone gel is for use only on the skin. Please do not take it by mouth. If Aczone gel gets in your eyes, mouth, or vagina, rinse it with water.
Wash the skin before you apply Aczone gel. Gently pat dry with a clean towel. Also, wash your hands after applying Aczone gel. Use only a pea-sized amount of gel each time you apply for this medicine.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 12 weeks of treatment.
Before using Aczone Gel, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: a certain enzyme deficiency (G6PD deficiency) or a certain blood disorder (methemoglobinemia), if you are allergic to it or have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
During pregnancy, Aczone Gel should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Aczone Gel may cause methemoglobinemia, a serious condition in which the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream becomes dangerously low. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you notice a blue or gray appearance on your lips, fingernails, or the inside of your mouth.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, continue your normal diet.
What should I do if I forget an Aczone Gel dose?
Apply the Aczone Gel missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose.
What should I avoid while using Aczone gel?
Rinse with water if Aczone gel gets in your eyes. Avoid using other medications on the areas you treat with Aczone unless your doctor tells you to.
