Cleocin T Lotion is used to treat acne. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria and decreasing the number of acne lesions.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the Cleocin T Lotion exactly as directed.

• Clean the affected area with mild soap and allow it to dry before applying Cleocin T Lotion.
• If you are using the lotion, shake it well before using it.
• Please wash your hands before and after using it.
• Avoid using other harsh skin products that can further dry or irritate your skin.

For patients using the Cleocin T Lotion:

• This medicine may cause the skin to become unusually dry, even with normal use. If this occurs, check with your doctor.
• If your acne does not improve within about six weeks or worsens, check with your health care professional. However, acne treatment may take up to 8 to 12 weeks before full improvement.
• In some patients, clindamycin may cause diarrhea. Diarrhea medicines may make your diarrhea worse or make it last longer. Severe diarrhea may be a sign of a serious side effect. 
• You may continue using cosmetics (make-up) while using this medicine for acne. However, it is best to use only “water-based” cosmetics. Also, it is best not to use cosmetics too heavily or too often. They may make your acne worse. If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor. If you have any questions about this or if mild diarrhea worsens, check with your healthcare professional.

Cleocin T Lotion may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• dry or peeling skin
• itching or burning skin
• redness of skin
• oily skin
• new pimples or blemishes
• headache

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

• diarrhea
• watery or bloody stools
• stomach cramp

Cleocin T Lotion may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication.

Does Cleocin T Lotion cause skin sensitivity?

Use a sunscreen or wear a hat when you go out. Cleocin-T can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Be sure to avoid sunlamps and tanning booths too.

Will Cleocin T Lotion promote dry skin?

Include a moisturizer in your skin regimen to help get rid of any dryness. Speak to your healthcare provider or pharmacist if you need help choosing the best moisturizer for your skin.

What are the possible side effects of Cleocin T?

Burning, itching, dryness, redness, oily skin, or peeling may occur. Tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly if any of these effects last or get worse.
