What is Emadine Eye Drops?

Emadine Eye Drops are prescription medications used to treat eye symptoms caused by allergic conjunctivitis. It prevents the effects of a substance called histamine, produced in certain cells in your eyes and causes the allergic reaction.

To apply Emadine Eye Drops: follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not use Emadine Eye Drops in larger or smaller amounts or longer than recommended.

  • Wash your hands before using Emadine eye drops.
  • Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  • Hold the dropper above the eye with the tip down before squeezing one drop into each eye.
  • Close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes with your head tilted downwards.
  • Gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute to prevent medicated liquid from draining into your tear duct.
  • Please do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or place it directly on your eye.

Emadine Eye Drops Cautions

Before using Emadine Eye Drops, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding,
  • Your medical history,
  • Suppose you are allergic to them or have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Emadine Eye Drops may cause temporary blurred or unstable vision after applying them. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity requiring clear vision until you can safely perform such activities.

Emadine Eye Drops Side Effects

Emadine Eye Drops may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when applied. Temporary blurred vision, headache, dry eyes, feeling as if something is in your eye, eye discomfort, staining of the eyes, a bad taste in your mouth, weakness, or unusual dreams may occur. If these effects last or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

A very serious allergic reaction to Emadine Eye Drops rarely happens. However, get medical help immediately if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
