Zymar Eye Drops are a prescription medication used to treat bacterial eye infections. Zymar Eye Drops belong to a group of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria that cause conjunctivitis.

For best results, Zymar Eye Drops are used as directed and prescribed. Stopping this medication too soon may result in a return of the infection.

To apply  Zymar Eye Drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not let the dropper tip touch any surface.

Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place the dropper directly over the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes.

Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. It will prevent the Zymar Eye Drops from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink, and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve in 7 days.

Before using Zymar Eye Drops, tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• If you are allergic to this medication,
• You are taking other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products.
• Be sure to mention medical history and anticoagulants.
• If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
• In case you wear contact lenses.

You should know that bacterial conjunctivitis spreads easily. Wash your hands often, especially after you touch your eyes. When your infection goes away, you should wash or replace any eye makeup, contact lenses, or other objects that touched your infected eye.

Common side effects of Zymar Eye Drops may include:

• Mild itching, burning, redness, or irritation;
• Watery eyes; or
• Puffy eyelids.

Call your doctor at once if you have the following:

• Eye swelling, 
• Severe discomfort, 
• Crusting or drainage (may be signs of a new infection); or
• Any new or worsening eye problems.

How should you use Zymar Eye Drops?

To use the Zymar Eye Drops:

• Wash your hands before using the medication.
• Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling.
• Gently pull down the lower eyelid, creating a small pocket.
• Turn the bottle upside down and gently apply one drop to the affected eye.
• Let go of the lower lid and close your eyes for half a minute.

Each mL of sterile, clear, pale yellow, isotonic, unbuffered ophthalmic solution contains Zymar Eye Drops 3 mg/mL (0.3%).

What should you know about the storage of Zymar Eye Drops?

Store Zymar Eye Drops at room temperature, and keep them out of the reach of children. Discard any remaining medication 28 days after opening the bottle.

What should you know about the disposal of Zymar Eye Drops?

Do not dispose of Zymar Eye Drops in wastewater (e.g., down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.
